COMMUNITY ACTIVITY
Protégés Perform at LA General Medical Center
On March 15, 2026, three Southern California-based protégés performed at Los Angeles General Medical Center for members of the public and staff in the hospital lobby. Alexa Clawson, Cosmo Fernandez, and London Johnson presented works by J.S. Bach, Keiko Abe, and improvised selections. Patients, doctors, nurses, staff, and families enjoyed the soothing sounds of gongs, hand pans, and wind chimes, in addition to the melodic beauty of Bach on marimba.
Los Angeles General Medical Center is a premier public teaching hospital and Level-One trauma center serving LA County since 1878. Known for its historic 1933 “Great Stone Mother” Art Deco building, it operates as a major safety-net provider, offering care to a diverse, underserved population.
Thank you to Medical Center Music Program Founder and Director, Toby Horn, for inviting our protégés to serve the LA community!
zoom exchange
ABOP hosts a Zoom Exchange every three months. Led by our protégés, the Exchange features lively discussions on various topics, including auditions, summer festivals, repertoire, instruments, performing opportunities, ensembles, and music-related quizzes! It’s a safe space, and a fun and engaging place to share ideas and grow together as a community.
Exchanges are planned for January, April, July, and October each year. Keep an eye out here for details on the next session, including the date, time, agenda, and Zoom invite. Please join us—we’ll be thrilled to see you!
